WILTSHIRE COUNCIL LOCAL HIGHWAYS & STREETSCENE SERVICES

Following the change of contractors from Ringway Parkman to Balfour Beatty on 1 June 2013, there is no longer the regular monthly Parish Steward service in Ham.

Villagers can either contact Donna Byatt by mail with any maintenance issues and she will funnel requests to the new Community Coordinator & Engineer for the Pewsey Area.

Or you can report defects directly to Clarence (Customer Lighting and Roads Enquiry Service) online here Please let Jacki know that you have done this to avoid any duplication.

The wooden bench on Ham Village Green was installed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of VE Day and was installed after the Ham Village Fete in 1995.

DEFIBRILLATOR

Ham has a Community Public Access Defibrillator, which is housed in a yellow cabinet on the outside wall of the Crown and Anchor village pub.

In the event of a defibrillator being needed, the ambulance service will tell the caller to send someone to collect the defibrillator (and they will give the code to access the cabinet). Training is not required to use the defibrillator but any villager who would like to have a practice (on a manikin!) should contact Richard Schofield on 01488 669 229.

The Trust  provide a Courtesy Home Security Service for older, vulnerable and disadvantaged people in Swindon and Wiltshire, who have become, or are at risk of becoming victims of house crime or domestic abuse.

Our Operators drive Police marked vehicles and dress as Police Support staff, their salaries, the security equipment we use and their vehicles are all funded by the Trust.

Once we have been contacted, an appointment is made by the Bobby Van Administrator for an Operator to visit homes and conduct a full security survey and fire risk assessment.  With the agreement of the client, appropriate devices are installed to secure the property.  Time is spent offering reassurance to clients and advice is given on how to protect against house crime.  Often the fear of crime is as damaging as the crime itself.

We offer talks to community groups and clubs in a pro-active approach to securing homes for all over 60s or those vulnerable due to a disability.

If you know someone in your community who would benefit from a visit please call 01225 794652 to arrange a visit.
